So many people hate on Yoko Ono. It's just not right.
I can't believe one woman could break up one of the greatest bands in history all by her lonesome. I'm just not buying it.
I like Yoko Ono's art. It's very present. Is the phone going to ring while I'm looking at it? What if it rings? You can touch a lot of it, climb into it. The famous piece John Lennon first saw -- climbing the ladder, taking out the magnifying glass and then seeing the word "Yes" -- so positive, life affirming.
So. Yeah. I like Yoko Ono. I like her giant hair and tiny shorts. I like her hippie go-go style.
She's still got a cerebral sex-kitten look going today. And big hats and shades have continued to be part of her signature style. As seen here.
Never change, Yoko. Never change.
It was racism and sexism that gave Yoko the bad rap. She never broke up The Beatles: they were divided before she came along and John chose a new life with her over his dissatisfying experience with the band.
ReplyDeleteI'll agree Yoko has fashion style. I was unable, however, to get into her avante garde music.
I never got the hate on her either. :(
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I like her, she has got a huge personality and great style !

I LOOOVE Yoko Ono. She was a star in her own right before she met Mr. Lennon and she continues to shine with her style, art, and lovely brain.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Liverpool, I was brought up with a lot of varying opinions about the group and their demise, John Lennon was so devoted to Yoko, I think that un-nerved some people but I also think the group were reaching the end anyway, she has received so much bad press yet she is a talented artist, (there is a light installation in the Tate, Liverpool)I admire her a lot x x
ReplyDeleteShe's a bad@ss and it's a real shame she took so much heat for something she didn't do...
