Summertime

"Summertime" is my favorite song in the world. It used to be the song I made my mom sing to me over and over before I went to sleep and then years later when I was 20, I sang it every night for a summer to cabins full of Girl Scout campers. It was the best.

There are a lot of great performances of it -- Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday, my mother obviously. 

Next to good ol' mom, I'm going to have to say Doc Watson's is my favorite. As seen here.



P.S. And, yep, I will definitely be singing it to baby boy!

    This is the first time I've heard this version....l'm digging it. My fave version is the one sung by Colm Wilkinson:)
