North by Northwest

When I was in high school, I took a class called "Mass Communication," and that's when I decided I was going to major in it. And I did. And then I became a reporter. (And I took some pride in the fact I knew what I wanted to do ever since sophomore year of high school unlike people who weren't sure what they wanted to do sophomore year of college. But, you know, then I changed my mind, went back to school and became a teacher. It's a woman's prerogative to change her mind, that's what they say isn't it?)

Anyway, part of that class was about film, and I watched some really great classics in there -- Citizen Kane, Battleship Potemkin, Jaws and North by Northwest.

And oh how I loved North by Northwest. That plane scene? The best.

Hitchcock's films have dazzling artistry in them. Much more than one would expect from movies that were popular. This one is a masterpiece, as are so many of his films. And who doesn't love the actors he used?!

This is such a great film. I love how Cary Grant runs and jumps and climbs and gets chased and falls down and his suit and hair still look immaculate!

Great movie! I love how the train goes through the tunnel... hm. And I like how they gloss over how the Grant character is drenched in toxic chemicals but he doesn't freak out. I guess that would dilute his manliness.
I went into "mass communications" as well as one major area of study.

I freaking love this movie! Also, the suit that Cary Grant wears is one of the most famous suits ever.
