After-party dress

I've blogged about this dress before. It's the perfect party dress (and by "party dress" I don't mean anything retro or cutesy -- I mean I literally like to wear this dress to parties). I thrifted it at Goodwill and then several months later found a matching dress in gray in a larger size that seems to fit exactly the same. What party am I wearing this perfect party dress to? I'm going to a play directed by a fabulous friend and starring two other fabulous friends. Clearly, I had to look my best. There will be an after party after the play so tonight, this is my perfect after-party dress.

The pattern is nuts. I love it. I used to buy every oddly-patterned fitted dress I saw. I don't wear that look quite so often now, but this dress is still one of my favorites.

Why am I pointing here? Because posing is awkward, people. It just is. And Robert started giving directions to me including "Point over there! A little bit higher! No, lower!" and so I did. So now we have a pointing picture. You're welcome.

These are my freshwater pearl earrings from Sleepy Poet Antique Mall in Charlotte. I may never take them off. Freshwater pearls make me think of shopping with my Grandma in Chinatown in San Francisco. I like them more than normal pearls. They're just fresher.

This is Robert. We also bought that snazzy vintage vest at the Sleepy Poet Antique Mall. I LOVE it. He's putting his hat over his face because he's not sure he wants to be all up on my blog.Too late, Robert. You married a writer, man. An over-sharer. Blogs happen. They just do. And this blog already includes pictures of you.

(Did you like how I rhymed that last little bit? Just going the extra mile for my readers.)

Nothing is more flattering than a wrap-style dress--it makes your waist look teeny-tiny!

I have boot envy from reading your blog - those are are Very Good Boots indeed. The ones I'm stomping about in this winter are, well, stompy. I need some slinky, fitted ones.... oops, shops here I come ;)

Love the dress - and why not have many, many patterned ones. Went to a vintage clothes fair yesterday - I wimped out of choosing between all the fabulous frocks and bought scarves. It's one small step...;) x

Utter snazziness, indeed!

Hope the party lived up to the dress's expectations.

Also, you have flowers growing already? Envy burns my soul.

I just can't help but smile when I read you! My husband is the same ... I have so many pictures of him with his hand up covering his face! I can't even convince him that I only want to take one good one for the family album because he suspects it will show up on my blog!

that dress is so, so pretty, and it looks great on you! my boyfriend doesn't much like to make appearances on my blog, either, which is such a shame because he's more stylish than i am (and so handsome)! (i always sneak in a few shots anyway... :p)

That is such a pretty wrap dress- the pattern somehow resembles the Tory Burch logo.

What a great print! I love that dress. This post made me smile because my boyfriend is the same way about not wanting to be in my blog - he's always covering his face in fear that I'm going to post a picture of him!!
