This is a Christmas ornament from 1988 picturing yours truly, which is currently hanging on our Christmas tree. "You grew into your glasses," Robert observed. So true. The '80s were not really a great time in eye wear. In other news: I think I might get those bangs again. They're super cute.

Cute! :) So true about 80s eyewear. I think I'm still suffering from the trauma and have a hard time feeling un-nerdy in my glasses now!
I had similar huge oversized glasses til 3rd grade when I broke them on the playground. My dad took me to the eye doctor and they gave me contact lenses to try instead of new glasses. My mom was LIVID that they gave contacts to an 8 yr old but...
Sometimes I wish I wore glasses 24/7. They make so many stylish and retro fun frames now!
My eyes are so bad, I couldn't even wear contacts until recently. Now, it's possible (thanks technology advancement!), but I haven't taken the plunge. I probably will, but I've worn glasses since kindergarten. It's part of my nerd identity!
