Charlie Rose has been doing a series on Shakespeare, and it is making me swoon. Shakespeare is big and true and earthy. Shakespeare is for the masses. He takes it all on. He says "Yes, yes, life is beautiful" and "Yes, yes, life is so terribly cruel. It is magical and it is nothing. Yes."

Alas, I am not that into Shakespeare, but we did read Macbeth at school and two quotes stood out: "full of scorpions is my mind" - we all know that feeling , right?! And there was something about sleep being the "balm of hurt minds" which I absolutely love. The very phrase itself is soothing.
