A blouse for peasants

Back when I was working for a newspaper, the sports editor once wrote a headline that read something like "100 Peasants Killed." He meant pheasants and the story had to do with some sort of hunting something or other. One little "h" changes things from a horrible massacre of an oppressed class to... dead birds (neither one is especially pleasant).

Anyway, I bought a peasant blouse when I went thrifting Friday. No pheasants were harmed in the making of this blouse (as far as I know).

I am finding myself drawn to peasant blouses these days. They're great for summer heat -- loose and thin.

They're also pretty modest so I feel good wearing them with wedges and short shorts -- showing some leg, but not much else. Those are the shorts I cut up myself a couple of weeks ago. They are my summertime staples.

I love the print of this blouse and all the little details. Look at that one, tiny button! Look at those cute cap sleeves! Look at the crocheted shenanigans happening there in the center! Love it!

It's a wonderful outfit to have on as I count down my last weeks of summertime. (Vacation ends in two weeks, but workshops start in one, students are back in three.)

I bought these Toms wedges for full-price because Toms are so darn comfortable. These aren't as comfortable as the brand's flats (I guess I was hoping for too much), but they're still pretty enjoyable. Plus they're cute. I bought them to wear on our California trip and then proceeded to not actually pack them. Oops.

This has been a really excellent summer, but I have to admit I'm ready to get back in the swing of school. Before then, I'll grab a little more extended family time and mountain time and maybe eat a few watermelons all on my own (I can eat a crazy amount of watermelon). It's not time to say goodbye to summer yet!

This peasant look is perfect on you. So light and airy. Like a bird. A pheasant or something. I agree. It is the Best summer outfit.

Oops! That would have been a bit disturbing to read about, LOL.

Anyways, your pheasant blouse is very cute. I love the print...blue and green usually has me at hello.

Enjoy the rest of your summer

Aaah that poor sports editor. He probably had to hide under his desk for a week. (I'm a newspaper editor so I've been there.) Anyway just wanted to say love those patterned wedges. Sorry to hear they're not comfy though. That kinda spoils things when you can't wear socks with a particular kind of shoe.

Such a cute print on your new top! :) I really like those wedges too, shame they aren't as comfortable as you hoped :)
