Gallery opening

My friend Stacey is an excellent artist (we have her piece "Bell Jar"), and she recently opened her very own gallery filled with art and jewelry and beauty, beauty, beauty.

I was very indecisive about what to wear to the gallery opening because I haven't had the chance to wear something fancy in a long time. I decided to go comfortable, semi-casual, but still pretty. The star of the show is that statement necklace from Anthropologie, which was a long-ago gift from Robert. (The flowered scarf in my hair is thrifted.)

The gallery opening was great fun. There was tons of gorgeous art and even more exciting for me, lots and lots of old friends. The gallery is in the town where I was a reporter for eight years. I was also heavily involved in community theater and just up-in the arts community. It was nice to see everyone, and it makes me wonder if I want to get up-in the arts community in our current town. When we first moved here, I loved the anonymity I now had. (In my former home, I wrote a column with my face plastered on it and strangers literally stopped me on the street to comment on it, which was both awesome and unnerving.)

But now, I go back to my old home and immediately feel at home because I know everyone. Oh well, it's only 40 minutes away. Maybe I just need to go back more! Also: I was really excited to have a chance to wear heels. These wedges are super cute and super comfortable.

I threw on some red lipstick too because red lipstick is fun, and I've been wearing it since I decided to go Old Hollywood on our California trip.

My husband, Robert, took these pictures (he pretty much takes all the pictures of me on this blog, lovely man that he is), and he was all about getting a wind-blown skirt shot. I can see why! I feel a little bit pretty, pretty princess in this skirt. It was a beautiful skirt to wear on a beautiful night.

I'd quite like to be a columnist, but not sure I'd want my face plastered all over it for everyone to see.

The gallery sounds perfect! I hope it's a success.

I adore your shoes and skirt, they're lovely.

Your outfit reminds me of a 1920's flapper, all in black with t-bar shoes, and scarf in lovely short hair!

That is a great outfit and love that necklace. We now live outside of London, whereas for many years we were in the thick of it. It is nice to have the ability to pop in and out of town at will. x
