Grey

I was at the beach on the first day of fall, and I got to wear a summer-thrifted hoodie to combat the wind. (And okay. I would have been fine without a hoodie, but it was fall, and I really wanted to go for it!)

Have you heard that Ani DiFranco song "Grey"? I recited the lyrics to my husband on the beach: "The sky is grey/ the sand is grey/ and the ocean is grey/ and I feel right at home/ in this stunning monochrome/ alone in my way."

It's a really sad song, and I really love it. I feel like the ocean is the best place to feel sad. It's just so huge and vast like it can swallow up all your problems and heal you. That's how I feel about the ocean, especially on grey days.

I feel like that, I sometimes feel drawn to the sea, I have always been near it, I wouldn't know what to do if I didn't have an easy access to it! x x

I agree! The ocean is such a sad but beautiful setting! And i am wishing I was living near one! (not to be sad in, but to admire the view!) ;)

And today is Ani's birthday! How apropo.

I like visiting the beach in the fall & winter. Totally different mood, more intense winds, and less humidity for my hair to contend with.

You've just inspired me to go to the beach! I haven't heard any new ani songs lately, but I was just listening to an old one last week: we are wise wise women, we are giggling girls.

I love the hoodie! Makes me realize I don't really have a nice one, I used to buy many in the past, time to get a new one, maybe even with stripes, since I love stripes.
